LEARN TO PAINT IN OILS
USINGTHE METHODS OF OLD MASTERS
Students learn the methods of masters such as da Vinci, Vermeer and Rembrandt by copying a chosen masterwork and using a limited colour palette.
Formal elements such as tone, light and temperature are defined and discussed as students are systematically guided through copying their chosen work.
The goals of the class are:
1. To gain an understanding of oil paint and its characteristics.
2. To gain an understanding of tone.
3. To establish mass and shadow shapes.
4. To paint the Light.
5. To use transition values between light and shade.
6. To apply and adjust hard and soft edges.
7. To continuously look for ways to simplify what is being painted.
Workshop Dates:
Friday, March, 2nd 6-9pm Sat & Sun, March, 3rd and 4th10-5pm
